Arsene Wenger explains details behind Lacazette’s injury

Alexandre Lacazette is out for 4-6 weeks

Arsenal broke their record transfer fee when they signed French forward Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon in the summer.
The sum has since been broken by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang which shows that the Arsenal board are no longer messing around.
Lacazette seemed to settle into English football fairly quickly and scored 8 goals in his first 15 Premier League games for the club.
But then, after the honeymoon period had worn away, Lacazette began to struggle and went 8 games without a goal before finally hitting the target in Arsenal’s 4-1 win against Crystal Palace.
Lacazette’s form then dropped once more after the Palace game and the 26 year old missed two golden opportunities in the North London derby defeat to Tottenham.

Arsenal revealed on Wednesday that Lacazette was ruled out of action for 4-6 weeks which surprised many fans.
There had been no indication of a problem during any of Lacazette’s previous performances but Wenger has now explained what happened to the striker.
‘He got a surprising swell of the knee after the game against Tottenham’
‘He needed surgery and its a massive blow for us but we have to find a solution’
‘Maybe this is why he has not been scoring as many goals as he is used to’
The quote that could potentially anger Arsenal fans came when Wenger stated:

‘Nobody could have predicted that’.
When Arsenal sold Olivier Giroud to Chelsea, it was clear that The Gunners had made a mistake due to the fact that Lacazette, Danny Welbeck and Eddie Nketiah are Arsenal’s only registered striker for the Europa League.
Danny Welbeck is likely to start up front against Ostersunds in a match that has the potential to make Arsenal the laughing stock of World football.
How could Arsenal let themselves get into a situation like this"
