Jack Wilshere has confidently predicted Arsenal will win a Premier League title under Mikel Arteta and believes the Spaniard was ‘right’ to force former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of the club.

Arsenal ensured they remained top of the Premier League table thanks to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Brentford prior to the international break, with the north London giants sitting above Liverpool on goal difference after 28 games.

The Gunners had their title credentials questioned during a poor run of form over the winter period, but Arteta’s men have bounced back in style and are now riding an eight-game winning streak in the top flight.
All eyes will be on the Etihad when Arsenal do battle with champions Manchester City in just over a week’s time, a heavyweight encounter that could have huge ramifications in the context of this season’s intriguing title race.

Arteta will be praying his players return from international duty injury-free, with the first leg of the side’s Champions League quarter-final with Bayern Munich also coming into view on the horizon.

Wilshere, who played alongside Arteta in Arsenal’s midfield from 2011 to 2016, has been hugely impressed by his former team-mate and feels the club are on course for a Premier League title if they continue on their upward trajectory.
