The Premier League teams to open a calendar year with eight consecutive wins
Arsenal have found their groove to move top of the Premier League table with the Gunners opening 2024 with eight consecutive league wins.
After a mini-wobble over the festive period, the Gunners have produced a stunning run of form and now lead the Premier League title race on goal difference.
Mikel Arteta’s side are only the fourth team to have started a calendar year with eight straight Premier League wins and the omens are good for the Gunners as Arsenal chase a first league title in two decades.
We remember every team to have started a new year with eight consecutive victories.

Final position: Champions
Manchester United were the first team to start a calendar year with an eight-game winning, a run of results which lifted the Red Devils from third to first in the Premier League table. Having ended the previous year with back-to-back wins over Stoke and Middlesbrough, Sir Alex Ferguson’s side started the new year with nine consecutive victories to make it 11 wins on the bounce.
The first of those saw title rivals Chelsea thrashed 3-0 and it was the club’s backline that propelled their push towards the top of the table.
