Facing his former club, the 23-year-old was played all over the pitch, switching positions as Diego Simeone moved his pieces on his chess board. While in the midfield, Riquelme found his rhythm after being given the runaround at right wing-back, and the Spaniard continued to impact as a left wing-back in the second half ? although he was guilty of marking open air as Girona made it 3-1 before halftime. 7
