Union Berlin were compact early on and countered well. But as the Bayern goals kept flowing, heads dropped and Die Eisernen?s usual hard work started dropping off as the Berliner lost belief. But Robin Gosens, much maligned for much of the season, did not give up and played a pivotal part in any of the remaining threat Union posed Bayern, ultimately getting the assist for the home side?s late consolation.

It is just so hard to give the award to anyone else. Joshua Kimmich just dominates the game in every position he plays in. Kimmich showed his usual drive and creativity from the right and, though he did not play the starring role he delivered against Arsenal FC in the Champions League, Kimmich was once again operating behind the scenes, pulling all the strings and keeping Bayern in charge of the match up until the moment he got his deserved rest.
