Looking Around the League: Bochum Slip into the Relegation Zone

While many of the key races in the Bundesliga are pretty much settled, we still have scraps for the final European spots and to avoid promotion/relegation playoff. With the extra Champions League spot all but guaranteed, we are running out of exciting races in the Bundesliga this season, especially at the top of the table. The title race is over, the five Champions League spots mean that the race for fourth is no longer particularly relevant, and Eintracht Frankfurt have sixth place and a Europa League spot all but cleared up.
This leaves a second Europa League spot and a Conference League spot. If Bayer Leverkusen win the DFB-Pokal, seventh place would qualify for the second Europa League spot, and eighth place would qualify for the Conference League. Freiburg and Augsburg occupy those spots right now, but Hoffenheim?s late winner at the weekend, on top of both teams above them dropping points, puts them in the running as well.
There is still some room for a little drama before the end of this Bundesliga season! Here?s how Matchday 30 played out over the weekend.
