Borussia Dortmund drop points at home to relegation candidates Mainz. Borussia Dortmund limped in to the winter break with a miserable performance in a 1-1 draw against Mainz, bringing to an end as disappointing a Hinrunde as Dortmund have managed in recent years.
BVB looked pretty good in the first half, peppering the Mainz goal and hitting the woodwork twice, but they were only able to break the deadlock through an exquisite Julian Brandt freekick half hour in to the game. It was a poor performance by Dortmund, made worse by the fact they struggled at home against a team in a relegation battle. Here are our player ratings from Tuesday?s 1-1 draw with Mainz.
