Borussia Dortmund came out on top in a chaotic first leg against Paris Saint-Germain. Borussia Dortmund have won a Champions League semi-final match. That is not a sentence I thought I would be typing in an article this year, but here we are. Terzic and company dug deep against a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain side and ground out a 1-0 result despite both teams having numerous chances on target. It was a back-and-forth punch-up, and BVB came out on top. They are just 90 minutes away from a Champions League final, needing a draw or better to book their place at Wembley Stadium on June 1st.
Dortmund certainly rode their luck at times defensively, but they also put in a brave performance to hold off Mbappe and Friends. Big performances from several Dortmund defenders and an even bigger performance by the woodwork kept PSG at bay, while BVB fought equally hard at the other end of the pitch. Some saucy footwork from Jadon Sancho gave PSG fits, and Niklas Füllkrug?s excellent performance was rewarded with the game?s only goal, piercing PSG?s armor late in the first half. It was the kind of game that could easily have ended with either side winning. Both teams had multiple dangerous chances, but BVB came out on top and will head into the second leg of the Champions League semi-final in Paris next week with the advantage.
Here are our ratings from Borussia Dortmund?s 1-0 win against PSG:
