Match Ratings: Heavily-Rotated BVB Overwhelm Augsburg
The B team gets it done in style. Dortmund came into this rather meaningless fixture with only one thing in mind: rest everyone possible. ET named a starting lineup featuring ten outfield changes from the PSG match, handing young Kjell Watjen his debut in the centre of midfield. Our starting lineup (featuring three teenagers) immediately took the fight to the away side, and Moukoko opened the scoring inside five minutes with an instinctive back-heeled finish. From there, the game never really looked in doubt, with Malen heading home a wonderful JBG cross and Moukoko completing his brace before the half-hour mark. Augsburg?s Vargas pulled one back on 32? with a deflected volley against the run of play. Dortmund regained their three-goal lead only two minutes later, a goal rich with symbolism, as the debutant Watjen- a Dortmund-born man who?s played at every youth level for us- found Reus with an inch-perfect pass and our departing icon dispatched it for four. The second half saw Dortmund ease off the gas, though Reus was able to cap off a virtuoso display with his second assist of the night to Felix Nmecha, who scored his first-ever Bundesliga goal for Dortmund in excellent style. It finished 5- 1, with the Yellow Wall chanting Reus? name as the team celebrated.
