Post-Match Reactions: Dortmund Claw Out 1-0 Win Against PSG

BVB managed to make it out of the first tie with a slim lead. Advantage, Dortmund...
...slightly. Borussia Dortmund emerged victorious today out of a wild back-and-forth shootout with Paris Saint-Germain that somehow, someway, only ended 1-0. That one goal came courtesy of BVB?s gap-toothed hero Niclas Füllkrug, who pounced on a gorgeous long ball from Nico Schlotterbeck and lashed a shot past Gianluigi Donnarumma late in the first half. In reality, that doesn?t even begin to tell the story of this game.
Seriously, How the Hell Did That End 1-0"""
As I said in the intro, a 1-0 win is far from ideal, and it will be a demanding challenge for Borussia Dortmund to defend such a slim margin for 90 or more minutes in Paris. However, even though it could have been better, it could also have been much worse. That?s because this game was extremely open from beginning to end, and frankly, both sides must be extremely frustrated that they didn?t score more. Fotmob has around 1.5 expected goals for both teams, but that doesn?t even begin to describe all the missed chances that fell to both sides. Mbappé hit the post. Hakimi hit the post. Sabitzer had multiple strong shots that were saved. Brandt had a shot that was blocked by a last-second slide from Marquinhos. Dembélé skied a shot over the bar. The scoreline could truthfully have been 3-3 and I would be none the wiser.
