Frank Lampard got his first win since returning to Chelsea as interim manager at the seventh time of asking, downing Bournemouth 3-1 on Saturday in the Premier League.

It has been a torrid time for the club legend since taking the temporary role, losing all six of the games he had taken charge of before going to the south coast this weekend.

However, goals from Conor Gallagher, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix turned things round for him and the boss was delighted, and probably relieved, with the victory.

‘I’m happy. We came in off the back of a tough run, it’s been a tough year and there is a lot work to do,’ he said.
‘But the performance and the result in isolation are really good, we deserved to win the game. It’s a nice step forward for the lads. To work hard and come to a place that has been very hard for a lot of teams this year? I’m very happy.’

Lampard admitted that confidence has been a problem amid a dreadful season for the club which has seen them have three different managers.

He accepts there has been a lot of upheaval, but also struggles to see why the players have not yet properly clicked.
