Former Tottenham player Rafael van der Vaart has said he is saddened by Justin Kluivert?s decision to move to Bournemouth and believes it will harm his chances of getting back into the national team.
Kluivert joined the Cherries in a £9.5million deal last summer from Roma after mixed loan spells at Valencia, Nice and RB Leipzig.
The Dutch forward had spent two seasons at the Italian side following his big-money move from Ajax in 2018 but failed to become a regular in the team, notching up just five Serie A goals in his time at the club.
Kluivert has found a regular berth in Andoni Iraola?s Bournemouth side, scoring two Premier League goals so far this season, but the move has not gone down well with fellow countryman Van der Vaart.
?I think it’s a shame that he plays there because he has so many qualities,? the former Tottenham player said on Dutch television. ?In a way, I think it’s a bit sad.?
?We don’t hear much from him. He first played at Valencia, which I think is a great club. Then you put yourself in the spotlight.
?But when you play at Bournemouth, you really don’t get into the Dutch national team.?
