Manchester City preview and pub guide: Can Brentford shock the champions and land European tour"
Brentford go into the final day of our second Premier League campaign with the tantalising possible prize of a place in Europe next season.
All we need to do is…….beat champions Manchester City!! And then hope other results go in our favour – with both Aston Villa, who are at home to Brighton, and Spurs, who travel to Leeds, failing to win.
The Bees were the only side to win at the Etihad this season, but City clinched their third successive Premier League title during a run of 12 successive league victories, which ended in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw at Brighton.
City have only lost four league games this season – with away defeats at Liverpool (1-0), Manchester United (2-1) and Spurs (1-0).
And after playing us, they are hoping to complete a treble as they face city rivals United in the FA Cup final next Saturday and then Inter Milan a week later in the final of the Champions League, a competition they are bidding to win for the first time. ?
Whatever the result on Sunday, it is going to be an emotional day as we bid farewell to Pontus Jansson, Saman Ghoddos and quite possibly David Raya too.
We will also be celebrating the club’s most successful season in modern times.
WHO’S IN CHARGEÂ
Pep Guardiola is the second longest-serving manager in the Premier League, behind Jurgen Klopp, and fourth longest-serving in all four divisions, after taking over as Manchester City boss on 1 July 2016.
