On Wednesday, reports from the French media revealed Burnley have been making ‘incessant approaches’ to sign Papa Gueye from Marseille.
It was said the Clarets want the player ‘as soon as this winter’, and since his contract with the Ligue 1 side expires in the summer, they’d have an advantage in the negotiations.
Now as RMC Sport covers the press conference held by Marseille president Pablo Longoria, it’s confirmed that the Burnley target is about to leave the French club.

Longoria then detailed Gueye’s contract situation and explained that the player is not keen on renewing the deal.
“We made offers to extend his contract this season, the second of which was in December. The player didn’t take up the offer. With six months to go before the end of his contract, it’s of course possible that he will leave during the winter transfer window.
