Away double kicks off for under-21s at Coventry
The under-21s are at Gresty Road in three days time but today it?s a trip to play Coventry in the Professional Development League.
The recent home game against them was called off and will now be played in May, so this is the first meeting between the two sides this season with us in sixth place and Coventry one place but four points behind us having played three games more.
The defeat against Hull last week was our second in four games but our only defeats since mid-October but we now have a chance to start catching those teams above us with a good run of results from all our games in hand.
Last time out, Coventry earned a really good point from a 1-1 draw against league leaders Birmingham and that ended a run of three successive wins all of which had come without a goal conceded. They?ve won six of their nineteen games in total in which they?ve scored 32 goals and conceded 41. That?s five more scored than us but seventeen more conceded with Burnley having the second best defensive record in the league behind Sheffield United. This is a fixture that has only been played twice previously with one win each. In the 2018/19 season we were beaten 4-2 with our goals scored by Nahki Wells and Christian N?Guessan. Last season a Dara Costelloe (pictured) hat trick gave us a 3-1 win.
Today?s game will kick off at 1 p.m. at the Alan Higgs Centre, the home of Coventry?s academy.
