Having signed for Burnley in the summer on loan with an obligation to buy at ?18m under certain conditions, Mike Trésor was hoping for far more game time than he is currently receiving.
The young forward arrived at Turf Moor off the back of a 24 assist season in 42 appearances, as well as eight goals, and there were a lot of expectations.
The player last featured for Burnley back on January 12th, and has been sat on the bench since, failing to appear most recently in the 2-2 draw against West Ham, after which the 24-year-old spoke to Walfoot about his situation.
Frustrated about the result when his teammates were 2-0 up, Trésor made it clear the mentality is still good at the club, and they will continue to approach games in the same manner going forward. However, he knows that making the Belgium squad for this summer?s Euros ?will be complicated? as things stand, especially since Vincent Kompany isn?t playing him, with Walfoot recalling he has gone from being a valuable asset at KRC Genk to a ?ghost? at his current club.
This is the same Kompany who was the one to convince him to sign at Burnley in the first place, which Trésor expanded a bit on.
He said: ?Vincent had a certain type of football in mind, one that he wanted to play, and I matched it. That?s all. Now, we?ll see. All I need is for people to still believe in me and we?ll see in the future.?
