Big win as youths go fourth
The under-18s beat Hull City 5-0 at Gawthorpe last Saturday afternoon, a result that has seen us move up one place in the U18 Professional Development League north group table to fourth.
Our third goal was scored by a trialist but, alongside him, all of Callum West, Rohan Vaughan, Zach Johnson and Logan Carlin found the net. For West it was a sixth league goal of the season and Carlin netted his fourth. Johnson (pictured) scored his third league goal to add to four he?s scored in the cup competitions.
A win was guaranteed to move us up a place given it was Hull who we passed. We are now a point clear of them, as we are ahead of Fleetwood who won their game at Coventry. Both have games in hand and Fleetwood missed the chance to move ahead of us yesterday only to lose at Wigan. It was a second win of the week for Wigan having beaten Sheffield United on Saturday and those six points have lifted them off the bottom of the table. Peterborough have replaced them at the bottom; they lost at Sheffield Wednesday in the other Saturday game. Â Neither of the top two played. Birmingham were without a game and Barnsley?s game at Crewe was called off and rearranged for next month.
In the south, Watford went top last Friday with a draw at Swansea. It didn?t last long for them. Having gone ahead of Bristol City on goal difference, they found themselves back in second place a day later when Bristol City won 7-0 at Ipswich.
