Clarets can?t close the gap in under-21 league
Burnley?s under-21s remain in sixth place in the Professional Development League and still seven points behind Barnsley, the team directly above us, after we were beaten 4-2 at home by Hull last Friday.
Barnsley were beaten 3-1 last night at Birmingham while Fleetwood, one place higher, were without a game. In the other two games, both Crewe and Sheffield Wednesday netted four away from home, Crewe winning 4-3 at Peterborough and Wednesday 4-0 at Wigan.
Wednesday?s win was significant having moved them into second place in the table but it?s unlikely they will remain there for too long. They are four points behind leaders Birmingham but one point behind them are Sheffield United who have four games in hand. Five points from those four games would take the Blades back to the top. In the south, the week started with QPR holding a one point lead over Millwall at the top but the leadership changed on Monday when QPR were beaten 1-0 at Charlton while Millwall hit Watford for seven. It?s left Millwall two points in front but not far behind are Bournemouth who have two games in hand.
The South Wales derby ended 2-2 which has made it more difficult for Swansea to catch the top two and down at the bottom end of the table there were two defeats for Bristol City. They lost 2-0 two days ago but the surprise result was their 6-2 loss last Friday at bottom team Colchester.
This week there are seven games in the north and five in the south and that includes two for us as we start to catch...
