Clarets move up a place in youth league
Last Saturday saw our under-18s draw 0-0 at Sheffield United and the point won was enough to move us up a place in the U18 Professional Development League to fourth.
It was our third goalless draw of the season with the other two having come in September and October at home against Colchester and Wigan. One week after that Wigan draw, we lost 3-0n to leaders Birmingham. That was on 14th October and last Saturday was the first time we?ve failed to score in a league game since. That was eight games in which we?d scored twenty goals.
We?ve moved ahead of Sheffield Wednesday on goal difference although they now have three games in hand on us. We ae now just two points behind second place Barnsley although they too have three games in hand. Barnsley moved up to second with a win against Coventry as Crewe, who kicked off last Saturday above them, were beaten 3-1 by leaders Birmingham at home. Birmingham added three more points on the road on Tuesday with a big 5-1 win at bottom of the league Peterborough and now sit thirteen points clear at the top although they have played more games than anyone else. Despite that big defeat, Peterborough have moved off the bottom. While the top two met last Saturday, so did the bottom two and it was Peterborough who came out on top against Wigan to move a point ahead of them.
