Eight goals and six points for the under-21s
The under-21s could have done no more last week. Faced with away games at Coventry and Crewe on Friday and Monday, both were won, we scored four in both of them and even came from two goals behind to win the second of them at Crewe.
We started the week in sixth place but seven points behind fifth place Barnsley and a further point behind Fleetwood. Neither of those sides dropped points either. Fleetwood won twice at home, beating Hull last Friday and Wigan yesterday; Barnsley won their one game yesterday at home against Coventry.
Although we remain eight points behind Fleetwood, we are now just four points behind Barnsley and still have four games in hand on both of them. Sheffield Wednesday now sit ahead of Fleetwood on goal difference in third place; they?ve played a game more. Wednesday were second until yesterday but dropped below Sheffield United as the Blades moved ever closer to leaders Birmingham. Sheffield United were behind yesterday afternoon at home against Peterborough but came back to win the game 3-1 with Louie Marsh scoring twice for them.
Although they didn?t win, Birmingham?s comeback at Hull last night was even more dramatic. As the game went into its final ten minutes, Hull led 2-0, but two goals in two minutes from Byron Pendleton and Harley Hamilton brought Birmingham level. Having drawn level, they then conceded a penalty but goalkeeper Brad Mayo came to the rescue with a save.
You wouldn?t bet against Sheffield United now for the title. They are now ...
