Great weekend for long distance supporters groups
Melbourne was the venue for Burnley supporters last weekend who enjoyed a brilliant weekend that saw them watch the Clarets beat Sheffield United 4-1 at Bramall Lane.
On the occasions we at home are able to get to the Turf for a 3 o?clock kick off on a Saturday afternoon, those of us based in Australian and New Zealand are preparing for a game in the early hours of the morning but for this one, a well planned weekend in the capital of Victoria in Australia saw members of Melbourne Clarets joined by fellow Burnley supporters from Sydney Clarets and New Zealand Clarets.
They were joined by two former Clarets too with Mike Conroy, the leading scorer in our Fourth Division championship season in 1991/92, and Nathan Peel, who joined us from last week?s opponents Sheffield United in 1993. It was organised by Steve Barnes (Melbourne), Martyn Baker (Sydney) and Tom Greenwood (New Zealand) and Tom told us it was an amazing weekend made even better, of course, with the result from South Yorkshire.
They also raised £300 for the foodbank here in Burnley which will be sent via Up the Clarets.
There are some photographs from the weekend below.
