Magnificent in Manchester
A Zeki Amdouni penalty around three minutes from the end of normal play won us a point yesterday from a 1-1 draw against Manchester United, but it could have been an even better result we were celebrating.
Having gone behind around eight minutes earlier, we were suddenly staring defeat in the face and it would have been so unjust had we come away from Old Trafford with nothing to show from a performance that was as good as anyone could have ever dared hope.
Substitute Amdouni was THE hero of the hour but we had heroes all over the pitch yesterday and had we won, it would have been fully deserved, and at the home of the team currently in sixth place in the Premier League.
With a pub stop planned for the return journey, we went by car, parking up to complete the journey with a short tram ride into Wharfside, just a few yards from Old Trafford. They must have known I was going; there were traffic cones all over the place trying to catch me out, but walking more slowly and more tentatively, I manoeuvred around them to reach the turnstiles safely.
