Masara hat-trick as under-21s come from two behind to win
Looking for a second win of the week, the under-21s fell 2-0 behind in the first half this afternoon at Crewe but recovered sensationally in the second half to win 4-2 with Vernon Masara (pictured) scoring a hat-trick.
It was a difficult start for us. We fell behind to a Calum Agius goal in only the seventh minute with the same player doubling Crewe?s advantage midway through the half. The score remained 2-0 to Crewe through to half time and the opening minutes of the second half before we fought our way back into the game when right-back Alex Healy-Byrne latched on to a blocked shot from half time substitute Masara to pull one back.
After that it was all about 16-year-old Masara. He scored his first, and our equaliser, midway through the half with a powerful shot and then gave us the lead eight minutes time when he shot into the bottom corner having found himself one-on-one with the Crewe goalkeeper Mikolaj Lenarcik. With not much over a minute remaining, he went on a long run to score again and complete his hat-trick and ensure a 4-2 victory for the Clarets.
