Substitute Cullen comes out on top in Palace defeat
It was another defeat for Burnley at Crystal Palace, a nineteenth in the Premier League season, as Palace took the points with a 3-0 victory against us.
Josh Cullen came on some eight minutes from the end of the first half, replacing Zeki Amdouni following Josh Brownhill?s red card, and at least he showed some fight in a performance that we hoped wouldn?t come after the Arsenal effort a week earlier.
Cullen started the first ten league games of the season but was ruled out of the Palace home game at the beginning of November having picked up a fifth yellow card at Bournemouth a week earlier. He?s virtually been on the naughty step since with only one more start, that at home against Luton when illness ruled out Sander Berge.
But he came on in this game and at least showed some fight in an abject performance that seemed, even with eleven men, to be nothing more than hoping we might keep a clean sheet and win a point. Cullen won 28% of the man of the match vote with Berge in second place having secured a 15% share. David Datro Fofana, who had a goal ruled out for an offside late in the game, was third with 11% and, somewhat surprisingly given his contribution to the red card, James Trafford was fourth with 10% of the vote.
The ratings were again very low and the average rating was even lower than it had been for the Arsenal game. Cullen was again the winner with a rating of 5.40 out of ten, followed by Dara O?Shea, the pick of the defence, who rated 4.83. Fofana was third aga...
