Alvaro Morata opens up about Chelsea FC struggles



Alvaro Morata has shed light on his difficult first season at Chelsea FC, admitting that the Spanish striker needs to score goals to be “happy”.
The 25-year-old has found some decent form in the past couple of weeks as Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri looks to rekindle the type of performances that made the striker such a big hit in Serie A.
The former Juventus striker moved to Chelsea FC in a 60m deal from La Liga giants Real Madrid last summer after the Blues missed out on the signing of Romelu Lukaku.
Morata hit the ground running with seven goals in seven games but the Spain international suffered an alarming dip in form in the second half of the 2017-18 season.
Chelsea FC signed Olivier Giroud from Arsenal in the January transfer window but Morata appeared to toil rather than thrive with the increased competition for a starting spot. The Spanish forward scored in a 3-2 win over bitter rivals Arsenal in the second game of the season before he ended a five-game drought in the league with his strike in a 3-0 win at Southampton last time out.
And Morata, who earned a recall to the Spain squad during the international break, lifted the lid on his struggles both on and off the pitch over the past 12 months.
?I?ve learned many things from last season. It was very difficult for me,? Morata told Spanish newspaper El Mundo, as quoted by the Daily Express.
