Premier League champions Chelsea returned to winning ways with a much-needed 3-0 victory over struggling West Brom.
Eden Hazard once again showed his true worth as he and his teammates ensured a stay of execution for their under pressure boss Antonio Conte.
As for West Brom, who endured another sorry display, it only increases their chances of relegation with time running out.
And with that being said, here are five things we learnt from Monday’s showdown at the Bridge.
The first signs of a promising Giroud-Hazard understanding
The sometimes maligned French striker came on with his new team a man down at Vicarage Road following Tiemoue Bakayoko’s sending off last week, nevertheless they were still in the game, but hope was extinguished in the final 10 minutes. Still, across 26 minutes, Giroud looked more energetic than he has done in a while, especially promising was the understanding between him and the mercurial Eden Hazard.

And it came as no surprise the Belgian broke the deadlock against Alan Pardew’s men, but most satisfyingly for Antonio Conte it came via a Giroud layoff, which means Giroud now has 25 assists in the Premier League.
It’s worth noting 24% of the goals Giroud has created since joining England’s top division was for Arsenal’s playmaker extraordinaire Mesut Ozil who in return has been responsible for 14 of Giroud’s 73 league strikes.
Nothing beats a classic number 9-10 partnership, and this one forming between Hazard and Giroud has all the hallmarks of a great one.
