Earlier today, Chelsea confirmed that goalkeeper Lucas Bergström has completed a loan move to Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna, after signing a new contract until 2025.
The 21-year-old will spend the rest of this calendar year on loan in Sweden, where the transfer window is currently open.
Speaking to Brommapojkarna?s website, relayed by Fotbolldirekt, the Chelsea owned player has expressed his delight on joining the club who returned to the top flight in 2023.
?It feels great and I am excited. The team stepped up to Allsvenskan [top division in Sweden] before last season, I know that young players get the chance here while we play attractive football. I was happy when the interest came from BP,? he said.
On his expectations with the Swedish club, Bergström explained: “I haven?t played in the Allsvenskan before but I want us to rise in the table and we go into all matches to win. I’ll stop the balls but we will win the games. I’ll help the team and do my best for us to succeed.? Brommapojkarna sporting director Philip Berglund has also shared his views after having secured the Finland international?s services on a loan deal.
?We get a big and strong goalkeeper who owns his penalty area. He has plenty of experience and played for Finland as recently as January,? Berglund added.
Chelsea signed Bergström from Finnish side TPS in 2018 and initially included him in their youth team.
He?s yet to make an appearance for the west London club?s first team but h...
