Jamie Carragher highlights importance of Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win over West Brom

Jamie Carragher believes Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win against West Brom will give the defending champions a “big lift” after a tough start to 2018.
The Premier League title holders welcomed 20th-placed West Brom to Stamford Bridge on Monday night fresh from successive losses to Bournemouth and Watford.
Chelsea FC made the breakthrough in the first half thanks to Eden Hazard’s finish after debutant Olivier Giroud provided a delicate assist for the Belgian forward.
Nigeria international Victor Moses extended Chelsea FC’s lead in the second half before Hazard polished off a comfortable win with a brilliant strike from the edge of the area.
Chelsea FC managed to hoist themselves above Tottenham Hotspur and back into fourth place in the table after Spurs’ 1-0 win against Arsenal in the north London derby.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher felt that Chelsea FC’s 3-0 win was vital to give the Blues a much-needed confidence boost ahead of their next Premier League fixture at Manchester United. “The first 15 minutes was a little bit ropey for them,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “The three points was the most important but they needed a win to give them a big lift.
“It was 3-0 and could have been a few more. It?s not just about the three points, it?s the performance, and it should give them a big lift.”
Chelsea FC will make the trip to bitter rivals Manchester United in their next Premier League game on Sunday 25 February.
The Blues won the Premier League title with two games to spare last season after finishing seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspur.
