Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guehi has reportedly undergone knee surgery and is set to be sidelined for up to two months.
The centre-back hobbled off in the 28th minute of Palace’s 4-1 loss at rivals Brighton at the start of February.
It was thought that the injury would only keep Guehi out of action for a few weeks, with the player keen to start working under new manager Oliver Glasner as soon as possible.
However, the Daily Mail say that the 23-year-old has ‘suffered complications to the knee issue’ and after seeing a specialist has opted to have surgery in order to deal with the problem.
If all goes well, Guehi will miss between six to eight weeks as he recovers, meaning he could return for Palace’s final few games of the season.
But in any case, the defender now faces a race against the clock to be fit in time for this summer’s Euro 2024.
Thanks to his quietly outstanding performances for the Eagles, Guehi has established himself in Gareth Southgate’s squad and appears to be next in the pecking order if first-choice centre-backs John Stones and Harry Maguire are unavailble.

Guehi has also been the subject of the much transfer speculation recently, with Liverpool and Manchester United ...
