There will be a new name on the Formula One grid for 2024 with Alfa Romeo officially becoming the Stake F1 Team.

Since 2019, Swiss outfit Sauber has been known as Alfa Romeo having signed a title sponsorship deal with the Italian car company.

That deal expired at the end of 2023, and many assumed the team would go back to using the Sauber name until their partnership with Audi begins.

It was announced way back in 2022 that the German car titans would be entering the sport in a partnership with Sauber, and while that process is already underway it won’t be official until 2026.

However, last month the entry list for the 2024 season revealed the team’s name to be Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber – something that was much mocked and derided by fans.
And while that will remain their official name, on New Year’s Day it was confirmed they would be more commonly known as just the Stake F1 Team.

Sauber have agreed a two-year title sponsorship deal with the betting, entertainment and lifestyle brand, whose other high-profile partners include Everton Football Club, rap star Drake, and the UFC.
