EXCLUSIVE: Everton, Leeds, Wolves move in as Villa pull back on midfield signing

Aston Villa have had to pull back from their bid to land Sheffield Wednesday ace Sean Clare – and now the race for his signature is back on, TEAMtalk can reveal.
The 21-year-old midfielder has emerged as a top target for a host of Premier League, Championship and Scottish clubs after it became known he would not be signing a new contract.
Clare started last season on-loan at Gillingham, and he was set to be sold to the League One club in January, before Owls boss Jos Luhukay spotted him in training and promoted him into his first-team.
Clare impressed Luhukay, but he has refused Wednesday?s offer of a new contract and is set to leave – with the compensation is set to be minimal given his lack of first-team experience at Hillsborough.
Villa had been in pole position and believed they had a deal in place, but following their play-off defeat ? some of their transfer plans have been placed on hold, including the Clare deal. Now Clare is again on the open market and has been inundated with offers.

Our sources have told us the player has received approaches from 14 teams. In the Premier League, Everton, Fulham, Cardiff and Wolves have all made contact, whilst in the Championship Derby, Middlesbrough, Bristol City, Preston, Leeds, Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan are also keen.
He also held talks with Celtic and Rangers North of the Border, and he is now set to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.
