Arnaut Danjuma very nearly signed for Everton in January and now he has joined the Toffees on a season-long loan this summer he has addressed the awkward snub earlier in the year.
The 26-year-old was expected to move to Goodison Park on loan in the January window, getting as close as taking photos for club media, but after Frank Lampard was sacked as manager he pulled out of the switch from Villarreal.
Instead he joined Tottenham for the rest of the season, scoring two goals in 12 appearances in all competitions.
At the time Danjuma said: ?To be honest with you, as soon as Tottenham Hotspur came through, it was a no brainer. It is a massive club with a brilliant coach, brilliant staff and the facilities are obviously unbelievable. So, for me, I?m very, very excited to be part of the team.’
Now the Netherlands international has joined Everton from Villarreal he says he is delighted to be there and it was only the uncertainty over the managerial situation which put him off earlier in 2023.
‘It?s amazing to join Everton and I?m really happy to be here. It?s been a long time coming to join such a massive club as Everton and it makes me proud,’ he said.
‘I had interest from other clubs but there was a pull towards Everton because of the fans, the manager and the history of the club and it?s second time lucky for me.
