Pep Guardiola insists he will stay with Manchester City even if they are in ‘League One’ amid speculation the club will be severely punished for allegedly breaking financial rules.
City are currently facing charges from the Premier League in regard to 115 alleged breaches of their Financial Fair Play rules.
Last week, Everton were given a 10-point deduction for breaking the league’s financial rules, and many are now wondering what punishment the Citizens will receive if they are found guilty.
Given what the Toffees got, there has been suggestion they could be relegated from the top-flight, a devastating blow for the club that has dominated English football for much of the last decade.
Should that happen, it’s hard to imagine many of their world-class players will want to stay at the Emirates but Guardiola has always insisted he would remain with the side no matter what.
He doubled down on this during his pre-match press conference on Friday, and also hit out at those speculating over the matter, claiming that they were being judged as guilty before the verdict from the Premier League has even come in.
‘Wait until it?s decided, and I?ll tell you then,’ the manager said when asked about the matter ahead of the huge clash against Liverpool on Saturday.
