Sean Dyche was left shocked by Everton?s ?unjust? ten-point deduction but has challenged his players to rise to the challenge and stave off the threat of relegation.
The Merseyside club was referred to a commission in March by the Premier League for an alleged breach of its profitability and sustainability rules in the period ending in the 2021-22 season.
The rules allow clubs to lose a maximum of £105million over three years or face sanctions, with a commission ruling Everton were £19.5m beyond that limit.
Everton have dropped into the relegation zone as a result of the punishment, but Dyche has said it won’t affect the focus of his squad who have lost just one of their last four league games.
?Everyone around these parts was shocked,? Dyche at a press conference said when asked about his initial reaction to the ban. ?Obviously, we?re going to feel aggrieved by it doesn?t change the focus.
?The focus since I got here has been on the pitch; getting the team to win and feel different and we were obviously on the right lines before the deduction, so this has just given us the push backwards to come forwards again.
?The job hasn?t changed for me, but it just makes it more difficult in the current circumstances.?
