Hellas Verona 0-6 Inter Milan: Highlights

Goals galore at the Bentegodi Heavy squad rotation and a trip to the (almost) always difficult Marcantonio Bentegodi and a relegation-threatened Hellas Verona caused a few worries pre-kickoff but Inter made sure to dispel our fears with aplomb. The Nerazzurri took a bit of time warming up its guns, but once Adolfo Gaich sent a diving header into his own net in the 31st minute, the floodgates were opened. Hakan Calhanoglu scored one of the goals of the season with a rocket into the upper ninety and Edin Dzeko made a long-awaited return to the scoresheet all in a six-minute span. The second half was more of the same, this time with Lautaro MartÃnez bagging a brace and Dzeko tallying a second of his own. In short, quite the evening for Simone Inzaghi?s men. The scoreboard was one-sided enough, but the possession numbers weren?t far off. The visitors had 75% of the ball and 713 passes to Verona?s 238. Inter also managed 20 shots, 10 on target, versus Verona?s 7 (2 on target). It?s hard to take too many takeaways from a game this one-sided against fringe Serie A level opposition, but this type of performance to keep Inter?s winning run and momentum charging along is a great sign, not to mention the added bonus that it was all done with Matteo Darmian, Alessandro Bastoni, Nicolo Barella, and Romelu Lukaku never stepping a foot on the pitch ahead of Saturday?s six-pointer against Roma.
