The Reds have conceded 26 times in 22 games in the Premier League this season as Van Dijk awaits his first top-flight appearance for Liverpool FC.

Van Dijk will rival Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip for a first-team place in Jurgen Klopp’s side. In particular, Croatia international Lovren has come under criticism from Liverpool supporters following some hapless performances.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp is backing Van Dijk to transform the Reds defence.
“They have brought in a defender and if you look at where Liverpool’s problems have been over the last few years, it has been defensively,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
