Liverpool have heightened their efforts to tempt Michael Edwards back to Anfield after the former sporting director met with the owners in Boston.
Edwards, who had previously turned down an approach to come back to the club, attended the meeting alongside the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) owner, John W Henry, and president Mike Gordon.
The 44-year-old left the club in 2022 but is seen as the ideal candidate by Liverpool to help oversee the club following the imminent departure of Jurgen Klopp this summer.
Edwards currently works as a consultant at the sports advisory business Ludonautics but has made it clear that he would not be willing to return to his role as sporting director and would instead want an even more prominent position within the club?s hierarchy.
The Englishman has previously turned down approaches from Chelsea since ending his six-year spell as Liverpool?s sporting director.
Julian Ward, Edwards? successor, departed in the summer of 2023, while Jorg Schmadtke ? brought in as a temporary replacement ? departed after the most recent January window.
Should Edwards return, it is likely he would lead the recruitment process for Liverpool?s next manager as well as the sporting director to take over his former job.
