Why Alisson Becker is the £67million gamble Liverpool could not afford to ignore

Liverpool did not waste any time upgrading their goalkeeping options in the summer, shelling out £67m to sign Alisson Becker from Roma in July.
Alisson had played against Liverpool twice with his former club in the Champions League semi-finals and he has been brought in to help the Reds win major honours.
With club football making way for this week’s international fixtures, now seems an opportune time to evaluate Alisson’s start at Anfield.

Ultimately, neither could fully seize their opportunities to make the No.1 position their own and Karius’ disastrous display in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, left Klopp with little option but to make another change.
After establishing himself as first-choice for both Roma and Brazil last season, Alisson gained a reputation as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers and Klopp wasted little time in prizing him away from the Italian capital in the summer.
