A visibly agitated Erling Haaland let his emotions get the better of him as Manchester City dropped points at home to Chelsea, with the striker appearing to bat away a cameraman shortly after the final whistle.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea – languishing down in tenth in the Premier League table – had looked set to come away from the Etihad with a stunning victory after Raheem Sterling struck to the put the visitors in front shortly before half-time.
But Rodri once again proved his tremendous value to Pep Guardiola and City as he popped up to hammer home a crucial equaliser with only seven minutes remaining of normal time in the heavyweight encounter.
Haaland was uncharacteristically wasteful in front of goal, missing three inviting opportunities in the breathless 1-1 draw, after City’s title rivals Arsenal and Liverpool had both picked up victories in Saturday’s earlier fixtures.
The Norwegian’s worst miss came in the 78th minute when he escaped Levi Colwill’s marking before somehow heading high and wide of Dorde Petrovic’s goal from near point-blank range.
After breaking the all-time Premier League scoring record for a single campaign this term, Haaland has 16 goals to his name this season – but the the ex-Borussia Dortmund man seemingly left his shooting boots at home this weekend.
