Euro Paper Talk: Spurs, City told to shatter record to sign January target



Manchester City and Tottenham will have to break their transfer records to sign an in-demand Lyon star, while Real Madrid will spend up to ?200m to land a top target either in January or next summer, according to Monday’s European papers.

Tottenham andManchester City have been told they will need to break their transfer record if they want to land a top target in January.
Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has become one of Ligue 1’s most in-demand stars after a string of stunning displays in recent weeks – with both clubs running the rule over the player ahead of a potential January move.
But the Ligue 1 giants, who are known to drive a hard bargain when it comes to selling their star names – as Liverpool found to their cost over their summer dealings for Nabil Fekir – have been told it will cost them club record fees if they want to land the all-action midfielder. Accoding to L’Equipe, Lyon have slapped a ?80m asking price on the player’s head.
The France U21 star joined Lyon in a permanent ?8m switch from Amiens after impressing during his season-long loan at the club prior to that.
But now it seems they want 10 times their initial investment if they are to part company with the impressive 21-year-old in January.
