Jamie Carragher says Thiago Silva’s days at Chelsea are numbered after he was upstaged by his younger teammates against Manchester City.
Silva hobbled off injured during last Monday night’s game against Crystal Palace, and though he was ruled out for the trip to City he could well be fit in time for the Carabao Cup final.
But some fans will be hoping the 39-year-old doesn’t play against Liverpool after the centre-back partnership of Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill performed brilliantly at the Etihad.
Their stern defence helped the Blues earn a point against Pep Guardiola’s men, with Rodri scoring late on after Raheem Sterling’s opener in the first-half.
Disasi especially earned acclaim for his efforts, with Carragher naming him player of the match and likening the 25-year-old to Chelsea legend John Terry.
Silva is of course one of the best defenders of his generation, and has been a fantastic player for the Blues since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2020, and was even voted the club’s Player of the Year last season.
However, he has not looked 100% this season, yet Mauricio Pochettino has continued to rely on him, with the Brazilian playing nearly every single minute of the Premier League campaign.
