Man City star warned he needs to ‘take care of his body’ by manager, both ‘on and off the pitch’



Seen as the future of Manchester City?s left-hand side of the defence, Benjamin Mendy has impressed when fit for Pep Guardiola?s side.
However, being 100% ready for games appears to be becoming a bit of an issue for the France international with his club, following claims the Spanish manager was ?losing patience? with the defender over his attitude.
Missing his side?s last six games with a foot injury, Mendy was apparently also three hours late for a physio session after going to see the Anthony Joshua fight in London the night before.
His lack of recent game time, even if he did play for Manchester City in their 0-0 draw against Liverpool at the weekend, was the reason why Didier Deschamps left him out of his France squad for the current international break. Embed from Getty Images
Speaking during a press conference, the world champions? head coach also took the opportunity to send a message to Mendy, giving him advice via a slight dig.
He said, relayed by RMC Sport: ?I never have regrets. I make choices and I assume them. I wasn?t surprised that he played. I found him quite good for a return game, especially in duels.
“After his injury (knee ligaments), he needs to understand he needs to take care of his body. On and off the pitch. The demanding nature of the highest level, that?ll come for him. I?m not losing hope that it?ll one day enter his skull (smiles).”
