Garth Crooks believes that there would be “something very wrong” if Manchester City forward Sergio Aguero does not win the Premier League Player of the Year award.
The Argentine striker netted four goals during City’s 5-1 rout of Leicester City on Saturday afternoon, taking his Premier League goal tally to 21 in 22 games.
Aguero has had an impressive campaign at the Etihad under Pep Guardiola so far ? despite suggestions that he was unhappy at being unable to establish himself as a regular starter in the team as he has been in previous campaigns ? scoring 28 goals in all competitions.

Crooks stated in his “team of the week” column that he believes the Argentine is a strong contender to finish the season as the league’s best player, surpassing the likes of Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah ? saying that the 29-year-old’s consistency over the last five years is what makes him a shoe-in.
“If this man does not win Footballer of the Year then there is something very wrong with the way we reward our best players,” Crooks wrote on BBC Sport.
“Granted we have De Bruyne to consider, and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, and of course Kane will feature in the final line-up. But none of the aforementioned have been as consistent over the past five years as Sergio Aguero.
