A pair of brilliant stories showcasing Alexis Sanchez’s commitment to fitness have emerged online today, from the Chilean’s time spent with Udinese in Serie A.

Sanchez, who of course made the move to Manchester United from Arsenal in exchange for Henrikh Mkhitaryan last month, has long been regarded as one of the finest attacking talents in European football.
Prior to joining Arsenal, Sanchez spent 3 seasons with Barcelona, who purchased the now 29-year-old from Italian outfit Udinese.
Italian adventure
It was at theStadio Friuli that Sanchez began to truly make a name for himself, catching the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs after being transformed from a winger into a second-striker.
And a brilliant feature detailing the South American’s time in Italy has emerged this afternoon, as part of Manchester United’s ‘Inside United‘ magazine.
The information comes courtesy of Italian journalistPietro Oleotto, who followed Sanchez’s career throughout his 5-year stint with Udinese: ‘In his first season, he [Alexis] was skinny and stayed on the right wing a lot. The physicality in the penalty area was too much for him. But the team needed him more central, closer to the goal, to make the most of his dribbling.’
‘So he began improving his body and they built him an ad-hoc gym. He worked out for two hours a day after training. I remember seeing him halfway through pre-season training camp and being shocked by how much muscle he had put on.’
Oleotto continued:
‘Once, after training, Alexis drove into Udine to do some shopping. But he accidentally locked his keys and mobile phone in his car.’
‘I’m not sure what most people would have done, but he just ran home. He jogged the 8km from the heart of the city to his house in the hills. Bemused locals saw him in his club tracksuit running and called us at the paper. It was typical of Alexis to turn the situ... view: 0
