Gary Neville responds to reporter’s tweet about Man United’s pursuit of Alexis Sanchez

Gary Neville has rebuked Guillem Balague’s assertion that Manchester United only have money to offer Alexis Sanchez as the Red Devils look to beat Manchester City to the forward’s signature.
The Premier League leaders have been long-term admirers of the Chile international and were rumoured to be close to signing Arsenal’s world-class 29-year-old in the summer transfer window.
However, Arsenal’s failure to sign Thomas Lemar in a 92m seal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco on deadline day to leave Sanchez stuck in purgatory at the north London club for another four months.
Sanchez has been heavily tipped to move to runaway leaders Manchester City this month or at the end of the 2017-18 Premier League season when the ex-Barcelona striker will be available on a free transfer.
The South American forward has now emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal’s bitter rivals Manchester United in January.
Sanchez is now facing a choice between reuniting with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City or a switch to Manchester United. La Liga expert Balague claimed that the Red Devils are prepared to offer both Arsenal and Sanchez more money.
Retired England defender Neville was offended on behalf of Manchester United by the Spanish reporter’s tweet.
Neville wrote in reply to Balague on Twitter: “You calling United Money Guillem" That?s twice today.. City have been wonderful this season but United did win 2 trophies last year and over the long term are a slightly bigger club ”
Balague then replied: “No. I am not talking about the clubs, Gary. I am talking about his choice. He wants to play for Pep. But the offer from United will be preferred by his agents. So for him, it is Pep or money.”
He added: “Is it " Is it not City and United maybe want him and he will consider all elements in the round before making a decision " Why is it Pep or Money " Don?t get it"”
