Juan Mata has revealed he is in talks Manchester United over a new contract.
The 30-year-old scored a sublime free-kick to pull United level against Juventus on Wednesday evening before Alex Sandro’s own goal sealed a 2-1 victory for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Mata’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season and the Spaniard could leave Old Trafford as a free agent.
But Mata, who joined United from Chelsea for 37.1 million in 2014, has revealed that he is currently in discussions with the club over extending his deal.
‘I am very happy in England, my contract is up in the summer, and I’m in talks with Manchester United in order to see what happens,’ Mata told El Transistor after United’s win over Juve. Mata scored a sublime equaliser in Manchester United’s win over Juventus (AFP/Getty Images)
Mata also spoke about perfecting his free-kick technique after United’s training sessions.
‘I have confidence in free kicks at the moment,’ he told BT Sport.
