Paul Pogba breaks silence on losing Man United vice captaincy



Paul Pogba insists he can still be a leader in the Manchester United dressing room despite being stripped of the vice captaincy at Old Trafford.
The France international started the season as second in command to experienced Manchester United defender Antonio Valencia in a show of faith from manager Jose Mourinho.
The Ecuadorian full-back’s injury problems have resulted in Pogba captaining the Red Devils team on a number of occasions so far this term.
However, the 25-year-old was removed from the role after Pogba criticised Manchester United’s tactics in a 1-1 draw with promoted side Wolves last month.
The club record signing was caught on camera in a heated discussion with Jose Mourinho at the end of September to fuel further questions about the pair’s relationship. Pogba has struggled recreate his impressive Juventus performances since securing a return to Manchester United in an £89m deal from the Serie A champions.
The French star, though, is adamant that he remains a leader in the Manchester United dressing room despite losing the vice captaincy.
“I?ve never played in the France team to be captain, being here is already a big thing for me,” Pogba told AFP, as quoted by Metro.
“You don?t have to be captain in order to speak, a leader is not someone who has the armband.
“As a leader you can talk on the pitch but I?ve seen leaders who didn?t necessarily talk.”
