Rio Ferdinand reacts to Man United’s 2-1 loss to Sevilla

Rio Ferdinand labelled Manchester United’s performance as “terrible” after they were dumped out of the Champions League following a 2-1 loss to Sevilla in the last 16 on Tuesday night.
After a goalless draw in the first leg, Manchester Untied headed into the game as the overwhelming favourites to progress through to the quarter-finals of Europe’s elite club competition.
However, the Red Devils struggled to break down the Spanish side and the game was goalless at the break at Old Trafford.
Substitute Wissam Ben Yedder then netted twice to put the visitors 2-0 up, before Romelu Lukaku pulled a goal back for the home side.
But it was too little too late for the Red Devils, as they were sent crashing to a disappointing defeat by the Spanish side. Manchester United legend Ferdinand was clearly not impressed by what he had seen from the Red Devils as he delivered a scathing assessment of the performance after the final whistle.
Speaking to BT Sport, Ferdinand said when asked for his reaction: “Terrible. I didn?t see this result of this performance coming, especially after the weekend against Liverpool.
“I thought they would have brought confidence to this game. They looked like a team thrown together and full of strangers.
“They played nervously and cautiously from the beginning. In these games you have to take them by the scruff of the neck.
