Eddie Howe admits he is concerned over the extent of Anthony Gordon’s knee injury after Newcastle United’s 3-2 defeat to Chelsea.
The winger, who has nine goals and five assists in the Premier League this season, was forced off in the first half at Stamford Bridge on Monday evening..
England manager Gareth Southgate was in the stands at Stamford Bridge to watch several players in action and Gordon is among those who are considered to be in the running to make the squad for the friendlies against Brazil and Belgium later this month.
But the 23-year-old could now face a spell on the sidelines with his knee issue.
‘We’re not sure what the diagnosis is with Anthony,’ Howe said after the game.
‘He’s got a knee problem, he said it was a pain he just felt come on, there was no moment or incident it happened so it’s just gradual.
