Manchester United will meet Liverpool in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after the draw was made before their fifth round ties on Wednesday night.
The Red Devils narrowly beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 at the City Ground thanks to a late Casemiro goal, while Liverpool more comfortably downed Southampton 3-0 at Anfield.
Teenagers Lewis Koumas and Jayden Danns (twice) scored the goals on a memorable night for the Reds youngsters to book their place in a blockbuster match with Manchester United.
Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott said of the upcoming meeting with their old rivals at Old Trafford: ‘Another tough game. The games don’t stop.
It is going to be tough, especially away, but we won’t concentrate on that now. we’ve got another tough game at the weekend and we’ll just keep going and go game by game.’
Wolves beat Brighton 1-0 on Wednesday to set-up a quarter-final with Coventry City, while Chelsea edged out Leeds United 3-2 to earn a tie with Leicester City in the last eight.
The only tie that was guaranteed when the draw was made at 7pm on Wednesday was Manchester City hosting Newcastle.
